KQED, the local PBS station. But honestly, the Hollywood movie was a
mess. The A&E version was better (except that Elizabeth was fat) and
the 1985 BBC version was better yet. But it's best to stick to the
book.

I got the whole BBC Jane Austen collection last year for my
birthday... excellent stuff. Ang Lee's 1995 "Sense and Sensibility"
(Emma Thompson - relation?- Hugh Grant, Imogen Stubbs) is awfully
good, too.

The influence a President has on the economy, during his term, is

he's born) bigger forces are in motion.

Ford because president as the result of being appointed as VP by Nixon.

He was stuck with the results of the Nixon economics. The wage and price
controls had done their damage but Ford could have, perhaps, helped things
a bit. It was obvious at that time that the cost of energy was going to
be the issue for quite a while but he basically did nothting useful on
that front.

But he was an excellent skiier, and they only showed him falling on
the news.

He played football and had a bad knee as a result. The knee would trip
him up from time to time. I think it tended to lock up.

[...]
Right, ironic that liberalism is so tangled up with anger and hate,
and conservatives seem to laugh a lot.

Yes, I really like watching conservatives like Jon Steward. His show is a
laugh riot. He really socks it to those Liberals

A pair of poles ?:)

As in any system, we can cope with a pair of poles. To many of them and it's
an horrible mess, you have to slow down the response to keep things
manageable...

BTW, how do we call "delay" in French? :)

Win is so leftist he can't be rational ;-)

Of course, the same could be said about your political leanings,
just to the opposite side. ;-P

I notice you've been strangely quiet on the political front these
days. Once I got over the eerieness of that, I find it's not all
that bad of a situation. :)

And I'm certainly not about to _instigate_ anyhting! Not me, no
way, nuh'uh! ;-P

Cheers!

Does being right wing makes you Real?

Both rationals and irrationals are real, aren't they? What you have
to watch for is the imaginary part - people _are_ complex, you
know.

Right on the positive real axis ;-)

Did you know that there are two axes in politcs, just like
everything else?
http://www.theadvocates.org/quiz.html

Now, of course, Rich the Philosophizer wants to put in his plug, which
shows that both sets of politicians are evil:
"The spectrum of the Spirit Polarity goes from Lucifer on the extreme
left to Ahriman on the extreme right, with your spirit and my loving
Light, of course, in the center. Lucifer is warm, earthy, sweet and
sexual, and often mean, brutish and demanding. Ahriman is cool, mental,
astringent and rational, and quite detached and judgmental.
"While Lucifer is sly, Ahriman is clever, and they both hate the Mother,
but for different reasons. In a face to face battle, Ahriman will always
outwit Lucifer, and yet Lucifer will sometimes win with sheer force of
ill intent and 'dirty tricks'."

What? No imaginary part? Where do those wondrous analog chip designs
come from then? (if you say, "Aylwardian memes", I will drive, walk,
crawl, hitchhike, or by whatever means necessary, get myself to
Pheonix and personally strangle you. :) )

Hmmm - maybe I'll write a book: "The J Factor - People Are Complex!"
;-)

We produce power instead of sucking it ;-)

Geez, Jim, I thought you knew basic DC Ohm's Law. The real resistance
is the only one that consumes real power. It's the imaginary ones that
give back.

Thanks!
