Hi and welcome to Electronics Point.

Depending on what you know already, you may be in for a steep learning curve, but lets see if we can help you up it.

Hello,

I am John. I am a control systems engineer with a interest in electronics, especially pertaining to boating and marine applications.

Hi, my name is Matt (screen name may give that away). I am in Walnut Cove, NC. I have had a couple of years of electronics in high school (about 25 years ago). I have always loved it and was pretty good at it back then. I worked as an electrician for several years in industrial construction. I have been away from that for 18 years now. I am looking to get back into it with microcontrollers, and things like the Raspberry Pi. I've been looking at several online solutions for re-learning, youtube, instructables, hackster io, etc... very excited to get back into it. A lot has changed, yet so much is still the same! I have several projects that I can see the advantage of using the Raspberry Pi, or some other type of small form computer, even the use of microcontrollers like the Arduino product or variations there-of (Adafruit and so-on).

Some of my hobbies are;
MTN Biking
RC - hobby grade electric - trucks & learning quads
On-going resto-mod 1970 C10 truck that was my grandpa's (this may end up being one of the places where I will use some electronics knowledge gained to modify/ add a few things).

Also, if someone knows of a local "club" in my area, I would be interested in looking into that.

you in Australia? glad to be here, I hope to eventually learn the electronics end and have a good level of confidence on this side and then learn programming of not only microcontrollers, but also for apps in Android for communication to the microcontrollers, I won't get to that level on my own, it's tough enough to learn without a "teacher" per say, that is why I searched out a forum, I hope this is home.

Yeah, hang around, ask questions, build things. You'll learn stuff faster than you think :)

Hello my name is khalifa from Nigeria.i don't know much about engineering but I am very interested about it.i've previously just googled circuits and tried making them.i hope to learn a lot more here.

All righty, then . . . my name is Martin, I'm looking for a source that links electronic parts to all the types (or general types) of machines they work in.

Maybe I've just thought up a new business or ref manual to write . . . ?

Hi Marty. Welcome to electronics point.

The book does not exist but could easily be written. Any part can be used in any device within the limits of the designers imagination and size/weight/cost constraints. If you want a better explanation, start a new thread :)

That would be difficult I think. There are broad categories, military, aerospace, industrial and commercial.
The parts used in slot machines are about the same as those used in personal computers, voting machines ...

Hey guys! I'm Franco from Las Vegas. An aspiring electronic and getting my hands on electronic design automation. I look forward to meeting EDA experts here in the forum.
