Why do electric powered automobiles need to be so complicated?

This is really my commentary on the issue of 'illegal' aliens. I just
have no problem with anyone who comes here to work. Friends of mine
often hire guys right off the local street corner here when they need
some heavy work done. Far as I have seen, they are really good
workers.

Luhan

But they're sinking the health care systems in places like Yuma, AZ.

Thats where we may need to change some things. Not to worry though,
the health care system is in plenty trouble without their help.
Without some fundamental changes, its headed for eventual implosion.

Sure they are. They look 30-35, but they're actually 20.

5 times as many illegal babies are born in the Yuma hospital as anglo.

Lets make all immigration illegal. But if you are shrewd enough to
come here and land a job for a year, you get instant citizenship. That
way we skim the best from other countries, and leave them with the bad
end of the gene pool.

Luhan

Give them a high school exit exam at the border. If they pass, admit them
and deport a teacher.

Cheers!

it's Socialism.

That needs to change. Down at San Luis they literally run across the
border and immediately drop a kid :-(

How about a Mexican consulate delivery room in the hospital? Run the
ladies in there to have a new Mexican citizen.

Thats the point, we want the ones who show initiative. We want the
scammers, schemers, and others who just dont go allong with the status
que - exactly the type of people who started this country in the first
place. Or do you suggest going back to British rule?

Luhan

But there will be bogus companies who "hire" people for a bribe on the
side. They'll pop up as surely as the guys who sell fake SS and Green
Cards on street corners. That process will hardly select for good
citizens. And please, no jokes about "enforcement."

Most countries have a sensible point system for admitting foreigners:
language, skills, lack of criminal record. The only reason we don't is
crappy politics and especially misguided union clout.

The Mexicans I know are pretty good Americans. They learn English,
work hard, and are friendly and moral. If we're going to be flooded
with immigrants (and forces make it that way) we could do a lot worse.
Imagine that many Frenchmen or Canadians who will never use the
language properly... ghastly!

What we need is a national health-care system at the basic level, run
by techs and nurses and providing basic care - checkups, prenatal
advice, immunizations, basic medicines but no exotics - free. It would
be cheap, especially with volume-purchased generic drugs and no
malpractice liability issues. It will never happen, of course, because
it would be a "two tier" system, and saving a lot of pain and death
wouldn't be enough to make the concept acceptable to Teddy or Hilary.

Seems like the right place to ask this question which has been on my
mind for a long time. I'm no engineer, but this one almost seems like
common since to me (unless some of my facts are wrong).
The basic question is, why do you need a clutch and/or transmission, or
brakes, on an automobile with an electric motor? It can't just be
because that is what people are used to driving, and what mechanics are
used to working on, can it?

Simple. If you gear the motor so that it can start the car moving, you'll
end up with a top speed of about 20 mph.

Ever driven a golf cart?
On the highway?

There is an even simpler solution.

At the competion of each and every medical transaction, everybody is
required to instantly pay cash in small bills directly to the provider.

My pleasure, John. Glad to help:)

Now all we need are people to check in from Vermont, Boston, New York,
Brooklyn, New Orleans, and Texas. The accents and ways of expression are
world-famous.

Of course, we can't forget Redmond. They may know how to pronounce some
words, but they keep redefining them so they convey little meaning.

So the real skill is not so much in speaking. This helps, but as any good
salesman will tell you, it is listening.

There is a trend toward walk-in clinics in shopping centers and such,
staffed by nurses with referrals to MDs if needed. A basic visit, with
a prescription or something, is about $75.

The basic question is, why do you need a clutch and/or transmission, or

Brakes, so you can stop the car better.
Transmission so you can "go" the car better.

The pertinent principles are the same, whether the
drive comes from a gas engine or electric motor.
