What is this tiny 2122A PC-board for?

Hello, people,

Only after I bought (used) this 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander XLS,
I noticed this tiny little P C board just inside the front right door.
You can see... Red, White, and Black wires to it.
On the cylindrical shape thingy is "KSD" and ".25V".
On the other-shape thingy is either "MN" or "NW", depending upon how you look at it.
On the PC board itself is "2122A" & "C2" & "IR1" & "CR".
Any clues as to what it is for, and why it is out-there-visible?

Is there any " Aftermarket" equipment associated with the insides of the vehicle . Like some CAR shop might have installed. The main units on the board are being that dark Infrared Detector block and a canned electrolytic capacitor for power supply line bypassing. .
Now think . . . . . .what is there in the car that I use an IR remote control with ?
Thus, the requirement that the board not be hidden behind something and thereby, being able to have continual "eyeball contact " with the insides of the vehicle.
A car alarm is also a candidate, in which case, a scattered IR beam is constantly inundating the exposed sensor. Then if someone surreptitiously enters and blocks / interrupts that IR path, the alarm is triggered.

You just might have something there, Mr. Ed.
In the back of the front seat headrests are two small video screens,
and there's a DVD player under the front right seat.
I've owned this thing over three years, and never used any of those parts.
The entire system looks like an aftermarket installation.
The seller said the kids could watch videos whilst in the back seats.
So, THAT's probably it, yes?

I doubt it has anything do do with an alarm. While temporarily
covering the entire thing with aluminum foil, no alarms went off.
