Attorney generals trying to shut down usenet?

R

Richard The Dreaded Libertarian

If the teachers' unions would set their minds to ensuring better
schools, we'd have them.

If the teachers were competent, they wouldn't need a union. All a
union is is a way to gang up on your employer (in this case, the
taxpayers) to steal money that you're too lazy to actually _earn_.

Thanks,
Rich

Another element is uncertainty...if you KNOW you'll get it, you're a lot
less likely to try. If murderers 100% knew they'd be caught and executed
that same day, murder would be a lot less popular.

And, of course, the appropriate person to administer this sentence is the
would-be victim who defended herself with a gun that she knows how to use.

When everybody in the country is armed to the teeth, street crime will
drop to appx. zero. There will still be embezzling, however. ;-)

Just go drive around Texas sometime. They're very polite there, because
chances are the guy you would be rude to is armed. ;-)

Cheers!

Is this a joke or serious?

If it's true, what will those guys do next? Ban all automobiles for
everybody because some people were caught driving drunk? Then ban all
booze? Oh wait, I guess we had that already and it didn't work ...

What's "Big-8"? I guess sci.* groups would still be in but what about
foreign groups that start, for example, with de.*?

M

That would be the end of it for me since it would could ban all foreign
language groups that start with their country domain. Time to look for a
new ISP.

Pretty close to censorship, huh?
Well you are a republic, not a democracy (these days),
but
http://news.individual.de/
full access, university based
10€ a year, not month, no binaries
Absolutely rock solid performance, maybe 1 hour in the last year
without access

At least then we won't have to listen to the same old Rebublican lies.

That one should be low and slow enough for you.
Here, I'll even get you started:
Q: How do you know a politician is lying?
A: His lips are moving.

We never were a democracy, we've been, since our inception, a
representative republic.

Democracy is more like the town-meeting approach to government, which
is why Obama is against town meetings... someone can dispute you
face-to-face... in public ;-)

...Jim Thompson
Hmmm..... lemme think...almost there, so why are you trying to impose
demo(n)cracy on the rest of the (oil bearing) world.

Nope, stick me on your kill list.

Yes.

"Democracy" is tossed around too loosely. What we want everywhere is
government run by representatives of the _people_... not dictators.

The exact definition of democracy requires a vote of the people for
_every_ government action... not very convenient.
Nope, stick me on your kill list.

Why would I do that? I may not agree with some of your positions, but
you haven't been rude and crude about your positions... like lots of
the leftist weenies lurking here ;-)

just tried to get through the wikipedia thing on democracy, zzzzzz, it
may not be as simple as you think

I guess we newsgroup folks don't have enough clout or critical mass to
do anything about being chopped off the web.

Ever draw unemployment? How about workers' compensation?

Unemployment? Of course! But that's an insurance policy paid for by
employers, not by taxpayers.

But I'd sooner beg in the streets than join a union and be a de facto
thief.

Workers Comp? No, I've never been stupid or negligent enough to hurt
myself on the job. How about you? ;-)

Thanks,
Rich

You do not have to honor any contract either. This is a valid grievance
against what you thought you were buying when you signed on. If this
major chunk of your service get curtailed, you have a right to curtail
your account, and not be held liable for a contractual breech.

In other words, you can claim that they breeched the contract by making
a service change that was significant enough to render the service of no
use to you.

Just start posting test formatted binary attachments to odd "test"
groups, and other out of use groups.

Not "censorship" at all. They no longer see carrying the other
groups to be in their interest (i.e. "business decision").
