What type of diode is this?

Hey all....I have this diode and on it says 27. Need to know if its 27volt and how many watts?

Its a Zener diode. Where did it come from - letting us know this should allow us to tell you more of its use and hopefully its rating.
 
oh sorry i did not see this properly. Ok the Number written on it will denote its breakdown voltage, in this case 27V

Hehe.. Dave does have some valid points but I'm with Rob here, tough I'd settle for it being a 400mW zener. I guess you can chalk it up to experience/recognition.. ;)
 
As Resqueline says my conclusion was drawn by recognition and intuitian - i believed the OP wanted a quik fix as opposed to an explanation.

Oh and davenn the number written on a diode (as far as i have ever known) represents the breakdown voltage of that diode which for a 24V power supply 27 volts seems quite approproiate.

hahahahaa you may only be seeing 1/2 the number its that damn blurry ;)

worth a shot tho

I just think of the 100's of zeners that I have in stock that dont show any voltage rating.
the OP will soon find out soon enough if it works or not

without further info I will bow to your intuition :)
