trying to build a home made night vision camera

hi everyone first time posting here. ive been looking in to buying a night vision camera for hunting but they are far to expensive so i looked on you tube and people are makeing them out of digital cameras and infrared lights. i have most of my stuff except the infrared bulbs and was wondering if i could use a 54 LED Infrared Illuminator Replacement For CCTV Camera and run it off a 9v battery and if so how would i hook it up? here is a link to the bulbs

It doesn't say what voltage it runs from. My suspicion is that it may run from 12V. If so, it won't produce significant amounts of IR from 9V.

It also doesn't say what current it draws. If the LEDs are running at only 20mA, then the drain from a 9V battery might be 360mA. If you're thinking of a small (type 216) 9V battery, then its life might theoretically be as long as an hour.

it runs off of 12v. i was wondering if i used a 9v and 2AA that would get me 12v correct? i wouldnt have it continuously running for hours either

You would be far better off with 8 x AA cells.

Assuming it requires 12V, 8 x AA cells will give you approx 12V.

wouldnt it work just as well to use 54 LED Infrared Illuminator since its all put together for you or is there some reason ppl dont use the illuminator like im talking about

what sort of camera you using? From memory if you use a cmos camera then there is an issue.... someone may correct me there but am sure it was a cmos camera I saw that said not to use the IR on it.

anyway I found a heap of things by googling "infrared floodlight". hope this all helps

im making night vision goggles and im using a digital camera and taking the ir filter off it, then i need to build some ir leds to put on it just like this

they are ment to run on 12v so not sure if i can do it with a 9v or 8AA's might need 11AA's to do it

The latter one says it's for 12V, the former (which appears to be the same one you mentioned earlier) doesn't seem to say.

They are very low capacity batteries 22mAH and 55mAH respectively
they may not have the current capabilities to even power the IR LED bank let alone the camera

i just need to power the leds not the camera. the links provided are of a 12v camera battery check those out and see what u can make of it please

At the very least you want 8 x AAA cells. However they'll not weigh much less than 8xAA cells, they'll last a small fraction of the time and they'll cost more.

It makes no difference.

To get more light you need more LEDs or more current through the LEDs.

For a given amount of light (all other things being equal) the requirements for the batteries are not gong to change much. The made up boards look like the best option.
