It is the default browser - that's the whole problem!!!

Its a real PITA that I can see no way to integrate Speedbit DAP8 download
manager into FF the same was it does with IE. If someone posts a link to a
pdf, DAP automatically accelerates the download and I can specify which
folder - FF opens the pdf instead of downloading it like I want (I wouldn't
have clicked the link otherwise!) and if I select the pulldown to save as FF
dumps it on the desktop so I have to keep weeding the desktop into my save
folder

Have you tried "Edit/Preferences/Downloads" yet?

Good Luck!

Doesn't matter now I uninstalled it - thank god for system restore,
uninstalling FF trashed IE and left me with no browser at all!!!

There are a few rare occasions where FF will work where IE won't, but on the
whole FF is worth precisely what it cost!!!

Hey, whatever works for you! :)

Cheers!

Great idea - if only it worked!!!

Downloaded and installed extension and restarted firefox - no IE view icon,
rebooted - still no IE view icon!!! So how do I fix this browser that is
"not broken"?!
No icon , but if you rightclick on the webpage,
one of the options is "open in IE"

Hmmm? I'm using FF on four machines, three are Win2K-Pro, one is
XP-Home. Nary a problem.

...Jim Thompson

Maybe it's XP-Pro ?:)

What do lurkers here think of XP-Pro? Is it worth upgrading to?

...Jim Thompson

If you have Win-2K don't bother, especially for a production machine.

100% agreed. WinXP is a *huge* step backwards from Win2K. Don't
do it!

My machine came with XP-Home.

Any way to go back to Win2K?

Reload it? I'm told that a license for XP includes a license for
2K (at least for my ThinkPad), but I don't now how to actually get
it. I'd likely try it if I could figure that part out.

You may have problems finding drivers for an older operating system.

Quite likely since it's a PCI-E based system. AFAIK, all ThinkPads
that came with Win2K were PCI. Oh, well...

I spend half my time refurbishing used computers removing unwanted
files, and the rest looking for and installing drivers. I'm building my
own driver database so that if I find it once, it'll be on my shop
server.
