Taking Requests

I successfully rebuilt the distortion pedal ala AudioGuru’s revised design and will post samples of how it sounds later. In the interim, I’m taking requests. Do you have a favourite rock riff you want to hear me play? Post it here and I’ll do me best.

By request and in no particular order:

Some notes:

I built this pedal using AudiGuru's amended design.

I did not use an amp to record this. i went straight from the pedal into my sound interface. Thus, there is no amp coloring.

In terms of the playing- it's sloppy because for many of these songs, i've never played them. And i cheated a bit on the Rush one. Took me a while to put my guitar out of tune as badly as Hendrix's was. lol. Finally..the last riff is a "name that tune". Guess it.

For somebody who has never played these tracks, I recognised them.
Except the last track...

Glad mine was first, it is a beautiful track.
The fuzz box sounds ok. I am sitting here now staring at my dusty bass lol.
Well done, practice minimum of 30 mins everyday.

Last one was Black Dog by Led Zeppelin. Great playing.

Though I was hoping for the fast paced opening riff to "Spirit of Radio"... :)

I will admit tha I purposefully skipped that riff. Reason being, it is one of those riffs that you need to make it part of your routine. Not a riff that you can pick up and play well, unless you have been playing. it well.

BTW- sweet child of mine riff is not easy. he uses some strange tuning and doing it in standard tuning, which is what i did, is clumsy.

Well, this thread may have taken a slightly different musical turn. Some of you may be interested in this. Despite all the hardware stompboxes., some of the best sound these days, can be had by software plug ins.

For Santana fans, you may enjoy this. I solo'ed to a Sanatana type backing track. The first file is me soloing to the backign track. the second is just my lead guitar, in case you want to hear it.

The plug in I used is called Oye Come Va....and it tries to imitate that Santana sound. It is an average plug in. Nothing great. Believe it or not, in the studio, my preferred way to get my sound is through my Ipad and a plug in by Bias effects. In my opinion, it goives me a better recorded sound, than a real amp. And because it is a plug in, no micorphones involved. Just direct record.

Anyway...here are the files:

(bear in. mind, this is one take,. No stopping. No planning. Just ad lib soloing).
