Tacx T2180 Smart Cycle Trainer Led not coming on. Power input OK

I have a TACX T2180 Vortex Smart CycleTrainer which doesn't show any sign of life. The Led doesn't come on although the power input is fine. Does anyone have any knowledge of these machines? I can't get any satisfactory answers from Garmin Customer Services who took over Tacx in recent times.

Is the CycleTrainer still under warranty?

If not, have you opened it up to check for any obvious signs of burned out components?

You might find this thread useful as a starting point:

I bought the unit 2nd hand from a neighbour who is to check if it could be still under warranty. He has been in touch with the Tacx people so I'm waiting for some news. Meantime I've been preparing for the scenario where I might have to resort to a "home fix" and so I posted this message.
I have looked at the thread you suggested on the different model and find it interesting, if not a little lengthy in places.
Thank you for responding.
