I have a Sony STR-DA555ES that I purchased new over a decade ago. The sound started cutting out intermittently so I quit using it. I did a little research and found out that there were some overheating issues with some of the components (especially IC501, IC601, & IC701). Several years later I decided to take it out of storage and try and repair it. I found replacement IC's on ebay and installed them. Now it is flashing "PROTECTOR" on the display. All of my solder joints look solid and I don't see any accidental solder bridges to other components. The fan connector is getting voltage but the ground side (black wire, pin 2, connector CNP992) has no ground. The fan works if I create a ground, so the fan works. I resoldered the pins on Q991 and Q992, just as a precaution (read on the internet that it fixed one with the same issue). All of the fuses I can see check out ok. Thanks.
