Seeking Pro Help: Replacing Parts on This Card Reader With a Smaller One

Hey,
Here is the project idea:

Make 2 components on this MiniDX3 1/2 there size.

1) Replacing the battery with a smaller:
9mA 3.7V battery

2) Replacing the reader with a smaller:
3mm 3 track head

So I want to know if I can use the connectors or If I should cut the wires and solder the new reader together.

I may be missing something here.

1. For the battery, the 9mA battery does not have a connector included, so you would have to either get one, or simply cut the wires of the old one and re-use the connector. But are you sure that 9mA would be enough for the entire circuit?

The old battery is a Li-Po, so be careful with the wires, cut one at a time and keep them insulated. It's easy to start a fire with Li-Pos

2. For the reader, I couldn't see any connectors, it seems to be a PCB mount component. So you would have to replace the one present; assuming both are compatible.

1) You where right it is actually a Lipo 3.7v 220 mAH battery. So I am presuming this Lipo 3.7v 120mah will work the same and is smaller : http://tinyurl.com/lz9qfkp

2) By connectors I mean those 2 circled components. If those are able to be reused I was wondering which wires I should cut and re connect a 1 track 3 X 3 X 3MM reader. Or if I have to use one that is 3 track.

Are any of these here compatible?

The new battery doesn't seem to be that small, neither does the reader. So what's exactly the idea behind the replacements?

Either way if your replacement doesn't contain a connector, it's best to re-use the connector on the board (if you can't easily obtain new ones). It's advisable to cut them mid-way, so that you have enough wire to work with both the old component and the connector.

So it is for a card skimmer (based on the fact you disappeared after being outed).

I'll close this thread.
