Replacing LCD backlight in Panasonic CQ-DF302W car stereo

The backlight seems to have gone in this, does anyone know anything
about replacing these in Panasonic car stereo units? Is it reasonably
simple (unscrew cover, unplug old CCFL tube, plug in new one) or does
it require desoldering and fiddly disassembly? I presume it's fairly
crowded inside the faceplate.

Wouldn't it be LED backlighting? If it is there's probably just a dry solder
joint somewhere.

It's possibly even lower tech - it's just occurred to me that the
faceplate gets quite hot during operation, which means the backlight
could be a plain old incandescent globe. I'll open it up and have a
peek.

If it's a globe, to get to change its colour. Rats it seems were poor
customers for the new invention - You we can now buy rat condoms in
different colours.

My stereo here at home had an incandescent globe that I replaced
*many* years ago with an ordinary LED. It causes a bit of a red
blotch in the middle of the display. If this bothers you, it might
be possible to mount two and bend them away from each other (depending
on space).

Problem thus gone forever.

Try to get a hold of some higher volt lamps so they dont blow so easily.
Worked for some level meter back-lights in an old TEAC tape-player, never
had to replace them again.
