Yes - I did check the properties and the phone number is there. I also
created new accounts and all have same symptom. Also different phone
numbers thinking the hyphens between area code and number was
interfering. Some numbers tried contained area code and others no area
code - same symptom. Turned out that hyphens or periods are not to be
used in the phone number string (or any other non numeric character).
Yes - I installed everything. You are correct you must install
correctly and also uninstall completely and also manually clean up the
system etc between each and every install/uninstall/reinstall. If
following the instructions - all goes very well.
Yes - I also experienced that the Service Pack will uninstall itself
if not done correctly or out of sequence.
I am not concerned with the 2550.

Okay, my mistake... there is a new version called dls2002 - it's new for
2003!

It installed and worked fine
Did you check the properties window for that account to see if there
was a telephone number in there? If there isn't it won't dial.
Also, when you installed it did it actually say it was installing
everything?
I noticed that if I did not let it overwrite itself the service pack then
made
the decision to uninstall itself.
Still doesn't work with old 2550's though.

The modem will not dial or even go off hook.
I am able to run the diagnostics (from the pull down menu and the diag
program found in the DLS Modem directory) and the modem does check out
ok. The lights flash, no errors or other detected problems.
I have been talking directly with DSC tech support. They have
downloaded from my computer some files for them to study in next few
days. Also, over the phone they had me try several things with no
success.
I have placed various AT commands in the modem string such as ATA, ATZ
and even ATDT, [phone number ] and this will actually cause the modem
to dial that number - so that means that the hardware works ok.
However, those extra strings conflict with connecting with a panel. I
also checked the file that contains the modem strings along with the
global variables etc. (DSC Modem MD12 v1.1 MOD file) - I think that
the data contained in the variable for the phone number is not being
passed to the modem dial out string under the program control (or
possibly this file is not being utilized at all).
A part of the MOD file string is: ATS7=60S10=255S9=1S12=10F1Q0C1V1E0
0&K0B16N0
I know what most of these things mean except for the: F1 C1 and B16
If anyone out there knows what these modem command elements do please
let me know as with any other information or test and tricks to try.
