problems with DSC 864 and DLS 2002 software

Ok, this is something quite different. I can honestly say I have never had
that experience. The PC link cable always works for me.

This certainly makes one suspect the problem is NOT in the communications
link, or modem, but within the DSC panel / software itself...

Sure...as long as you have the original sales slip, and sent in your
lifetime warranty card... :)

I tried a 2nd 5020 panel and it is doing the same thing, it is working
with a 432, 632, and 832 panel no problem.

One thing I found with the 5020 is that if it has signals to communicate, it
won't let you connect to d/l. Turn off communication in section 380.

As a last resort, hardware default the panel and reprogram. Don't know why
but sometimes this cures the damndest things...

Well I don't want to be the guy throwing stones here, but DSC quality
control has definately slipped since they got bought. I'm routinely getting
products that show poor quality control:

....for example; a couple of locked board shipped as new, a couple of keypads
missing all the paper work, one wireless motion with the wrong backplate,
plus boards that just won't communicate routinely...

Dunno !!!

I would have to agree about the seeming lack of quality control in DSC
equipment since they have been bought. I have had all the same troubles.
Especially with the locked boards shipped as new.

I've always found the opposite, DSC is one of the most rugged with FBI,
Caddx, ITI, Ademco and Napco bringing up the rear in that order

The 1200 modem might work, I've not had any luck with it but apparently
others have, the 2400 works great as long as its the Optima model 4000AM or
4007AM
