I run a small time computer repair shop where I also repair consoles and other basic electronics.
The other day a regular client of mine came to my shop with his Yamaha M-50 receiver, asking if I could help out finding a replacement for a safety capacitor that had blown in his receiver and help replace it for him. Thing is, the safety capacitor that has blown is a Rifa safety capacitor which, from what I've seen, tends to burst with quite a bit of force. This time the damage was minimal and contained to the cap. itself with a bit of spilled electrolytes to clean up but next time it might cause more damage. For this reason I don't want to replace it with the exact same capacitor if I can avoid it.
Seeing as audio is not my strong point, I would like to ask of you kind folks if you could help me out with suggesting a different brand safety capacitor to replace the original one with.
