Sorry all that have tried to help
The error is the wrong one (vainity as i now have to wear glasses)
the error that was reported 000x0
That is the wrong error and the real error is 000x1
Sorry if i have mislead anyone
At the end of this post is all written info so far

Also i have just been given a heap of electrical components and i wonder
where i can souce info on
different ici's eg ca3140e rca137
c8109* dm74ls367n
nec 8345d5022 d416c-2
and so on

I have a 145b programmer
pic 16f84
and have compiled the basic led flash programe in mplabs get a hex file
using microPro i can read the chip and do the usual stuff as in look at the
chip
when i programe the chip i get an error saying that it cannot read 000x0
is this a pre used area
Am i using the wrong compiler

Usually an error in programming or configuration
of the programmer or chip.

Have you another chip you can try programming ?

Also you may have accidentally code protected the chip while programming it
?

First check whether you have the A or non-A version of the 16f84. Be
sure to select the right one when you program it. Second, make sure
you have not cleared the "Code Protect" flags in the config word (be
careful which data sheet you look these up in - remember A and non-A
).

Yes It is a non a version and yes I compiled the file as a hex using the
above software The file compiles no prob I can load an empty compiles hex 'I
think it is empty' The error is that the pic chip cannot read the first bite
or second as it says 000x1 I said this was the report error address "it
cannot read 000x0" the first time and I was wrong.
I have been able to programme atmel chips
This programmer was built by a friend while the atmel was purchased already
assembled. Could it be that it is a assembly one
Although micropro was able to read the programmer.
