Looking for programming doc on DSC Power832

D

DaveInPNG

I'd like to buy a DSC Power832 panel, but I keep seeing references to
settings in newsgroups (like section 701) I need because of my
situation (living in a foreign country). Unfortunately, some sections
are not documented in the regular manual.

Since I won't have an 'offical' installer (though I can quite capable
myself), I'd like to get the full programming guide. How do I get one?

Thanks.

Does anyone know of a panel that is backward compatible with an Ademco
4280 wireless receiver or a panel/receiver combo that will listen to
Ademco 57xx series transmitters?

I'm trying to help an old customer without forcing them to buy a
complete new system when only the panel is bad.

(I've been 'inactive' on doing new installations for about 10 years &
I'm not up to date on what's available now.)

Thanks,

Is the receiver still good? If so I think the only panel that will
work with it is a 4110DL, or 4110XM. Which may still be around
somewhere.

If you can find a 4140xm, xmp, xmpt panel...maybe you can.
That's those old dip switch transmitters if I remember.

Just checked, and the 4110XM is the one that will work with 57XX
wireless.

Old version Vista-10 will work or just get a 4110XM which is still a current
Honeywell panel

Only a very old version and I think it was just the standard 50 not the P

Isn't that the garbage the FBII HC41 was retrofitted to work with?

Perhaps I'm missing an inside joke, but can anyone help me? <grin>

Thanks for the link.

Excellent source of info. One question though: Version 1 of the manual
had the info I was looking for, but the version 2 did not. Does this
mean they pulled the information out of the manual, or pulled the
feature out of the panel?

Thanks.

That depends. What feature are you talking about?

Those features no longer exist in the v2 panel

OK, so here I am again, starting from scratch. I still have no panel I
can buy. I'm going to start a fresh thread: "What panels work on 50 HZ
that I can buy now?".

Thanks.

The line of panels by Paradox Security, based out of Montreal will work
either 50 hz or 60 hz with no changes needed. They are sold in 41 countries
around the world.

I know this because I just sold a system to a DIYer who plans to install it
in Turkey. The factory confirmed the above

First off, know right up front that I am biased in this regard, much like
every other alarm company and installer.

I love the Paradox line of equipment, although I install, takeover and
service DSC as well. Each has their quirks (what panel doesn't) but overall,
I find the Paradox more stable, and requiring less service. Their wireless
is superb and beats DSC wireless by a country mile. There are no instances
of random unexplainable signals from the panels going to the station a la
DSC. The newer Paradox panels are easier to program with the memory key
function versus the DSC products, although the older Paradox panels could be
a pain at times.

Overall, I use them as my standard panel whenever the customer doesn't
stipulate a make and model he wishes. While under contract with me, I am
responsible for ANYTHING that goes wrong with the panel, however caused !I
wouldn't take on that liability unless I was quite sure of them from a
technical and reliability standpoint (500 Paradox in service versus 300 of
the DSC products).

Both are excellent lines of alarm equipment, but for my money, the final
vote goes to Paradox...

Just my 2 cents...

Panels are very nice but I can't stand the download software, the other
problem is they seem to have too damn many models in the same categories.
For instance from what I can tell they have what appears to be 3 or 4
different panels whereas DSC has one
