Well, I think it's the start of a collection of old bridges

Whenever I tell my wife I've found another old bridge... She tells me to get over it.

This one was hand delivered about 4 months ago to a relative in a town just a little too far away to quickly visit. We finally took a day trip yesterday and picked it up.

I've heard about those Brooklyn Bridges. They might be old, originating from the stone age of bridge construction, but you need way too many cables, and the maintenance costs are astronomical.

I can't wait to see more of your collections soon. I am sure that soon your wife will support you with the things that you want to collect.

Some of your box collection appear to be quite well-made. The boxes would pro'ly be worth big bux if you removed the antique electronics stuff and cleaned and polished them.

Ok, intrigued. What exactly does a "philoscope" do?
Googling it lead somewhere quite different.
You need to include the part number in the Google string. When you do that, it leads to this page of useful information. It's an RC bridge (one capacitor or inductor at a time, please!) with a "magic eye" tube to indicate when the bridge is balanced. I used to have a similar product assembled from a Heathkit when I was younger. No idea what became of it, and unlike Steve's cases, my Heathkit case wasn't worth saving.

... I found a page with a lot of information on "boatanchors" (old equipment)
Very informative link you provided. But, just being old equipment does not qualify it as a boat anchor. The old equipment must also be heavy (like a boat anchor) from being made of one or more large transformers and a steel chassis. If you can lift it using one arm, it probably doesn't qualify as a "boat anchor," although it may be vintage.:D

Yes, I have a few boat anchors, and I don't plan on collecting more. They're just too hard to lift.

I couldn't help myself. These were just too pretty :)

A Leeds & Northrup Wheatstone bridge.

And a Leeds & Northrup type K-4 Potentiometer.

The potentiometer is a really marvelous piece of hardware.
