How do I reset Epson Ink Cartridge?

J

Jibberd

I have an Epson C41UX and the damn thing zips thru ink cartridges and
now I learn that it may not even be using all the ink in the tank.

My local suppliers are happy to refil and reset this chip but at a
cost that exceeds a cheapy no name.

ANyone know of a way I can reset these chips myself?

I know the standard disclaimers on using non genuine inks and their
potential for damage but I've already spent more on cartriges than the
printer and I'm not all that happy with the printer anyway so I'm
happy to run it into the ground. I won't be buying Epson again!

Any help appreciated

There are chip resetters around for Epson - the businesses who sell the
refill kits will sell those as well. I paid about USD 18 for mine, but this
is converted from the Danish price & Denamrk being the most expensive place
on the planet to buy anything.

Yeah.... them's smeg them is. £20 for the printer £40 for the replacement
cartridge. Get bundled for free with home puter systems. You go work it out.
They should get fucked over for anti-trust and unfair trading and other such
stuff.

Sorry, not a lot of help....... but at least you've learned your lesson.
Time to put it in the bin and do some research.

Oh, and if you want a laugh. I know someone who bought an old Apple off the
dump for £5 and it came with a Canon BubbleJet printer. He's a plasterer and
just wanted to print off some 'flyers'. Having got it going he managed to
print off 100 sheets with what was left in the catridge. Then, and the best
way I can describe it is, he ripped off the printhead along with its control
electronics and washed them in the sink then forced them back onto it. And
better still he goes and drills a hole in the top of it........ not your
normal hole..... this is done with a black and decker hammer drill and a
quarter inch bit. After that he refills it with Quink... you know...
fountain pen ink. Then he proceeds, after a bit of swearing, to print off
another 300 sheets before the thing finally croaks.

400 sheets at 4 flyers per sheet is 1600. At an average of £160 a job that's
£256,000. Mass marketing works.... not. He got one customer from the lot.
Still a profit though.

It's true.... I was there. I was rolling about larfing while he did it. I
was larfing harder when it worked.

I've noticed that the original Epson ink cartridges are at least as
prone to clogging up as any generic alternative. I'm fed up with all
that wasteful nozzle-cleaning lark. HP for me in future!
