Fused plug

D

David Lesher

I am seeking what I thought would be easy...
A ordinary NEMA-type 120V straight blade plug with integral fuse.

I've seen them on gear but finding a pn# for same is looking
like a snipe hunt.

Now, if I were British....

For a one-off:

I've not noticed any modern ones, but some Chinese suppliers are
offering 3-pin fused line cords (molded onto plugs, with some kind of
sliding toggle in the plug to release the fuse). UL, or so they say.

Two blade ones are used in electric fence chargers. Check out brutonsupply.com also kencove.com and
electric-deer-fence.com. Less than $5.00.
If you want grounded, there's Molex PN 130144-0014. Not a stocked item and cost is about
$30.00........Paul

Yes, I need grounded. Thanks for cite but page has no mention of what fuses
it accepts..

Followups set to sci.electronics.components. (Mostly because my news
reader will complain, not because anybody actually cares...)

I know this post is a few months old, but a Daniel Woodhead 14F47 may do
what you want; it is a fused NEMA 5-15 plug. Apparently Woodhead is now
part of Molex and the Molex part number is 130144-0014 .

The official data sheet is here
http://www.woodhead.com/webdocs/datasheets/pdf/en-us/1301440014_WIRING_DEVICES.pdf
but it annoyingly doesn't say what kind of fuse it uses. Googling
gives a vendor photo that suggests it is an 0.25" x 1.25" glass
cartridge style fuse:
http://www.electriciansupplies.com/product.cfm/p/16836/Daniel-Woodhead-14F47.htm

Newark doesn't stock it but says they can get it for $44. Some other
industrial-automation places say they have them for around $40.

I also Googled and found Hubbell HBL5299, which is also a fused NEMA
5-15 plug. It only has a CSA rating (not UL), if that matters. Data
sheet is here
http://www.hubbellcatalog.com/wiring/section-a-datasheet.asp?PN=HBL5299
but again doesn't say what kind of fuse it uses.

Same deal with Newark; don't have but can get for $43. Other vendors
say they can get it for about $40. There are some on Ebay at the
moment for about $14.

I've never actually used either one of these plugs; I just remember the
Woodhead one from when this came up before, somewhere in
sci.electronics.

Standard disclaimers apply; I don't get money or other consideration
from any companies mentioned.

Thanks. I found others but in all cases the price was insane.
I got a bigger box and am using a ETA 1410-G111-L1F1-S01-10A
breaker. I'm also using a smaller SSR on one side to save room.
