Just to get back to the thread title, anyone else think that
Sarkosy looks rather like a Schwarzenegger Mini Me?
You mean Sarkosy is a leftist Republican?

krw said:Um, that's redundant. "Fully funded" implies that no more cash needs
to be dumped in. Where are these funds invested? I don't like the
idea of government investing in the private sector.
John Larkin said:This is sort of stunning. After all the press propaganda about
Europeans hating America, 54% of the French voters went for a guy who
"wanted to tell his American friends that they can rely on our
friendship ... France will always be next to them when they need us."
Yes, and CalPERS is scary too. Any time an entity that has the powerIt's done all the time. Look at CalPERS, the California fund for state
employees. They are probably one of the biggest financial behemoths this
side of the Klondike. And they have begun to twist some arms in the
board rooms so things are done their way or else...

of law owns (a share of) businesses it's a bad thing. There is a
severe conflict of interest there.
Certain political forces like it that way, others like it just the other
way around.
And since the majority in California ... well, let's not go
there.

Certain others think it's a bad idea. So far, history shows that
central control is a bad idea.
No need. The results are evident.
Exactly. Reminds me of the "red army" terrorists in Europe who conducted
mock "trials" before killing hostages.
One seriously repentant terrorist was interviewed and said that one of the
hostages posed a question to them after their usual spiel about how great
communism is: Where has that ever worked? Eeerie silence followed.
China's doing OK right now !
You mean the red brigade ?
Where has undiluted capitalism ever worked ?
