Electric Motor Start-up

Hi, I hope someone can advise me on my error please.
I am having trouble in getting a motor to start and rotate in the direction that I want it to.
I stripped a paper shredder to use the motor, and I have a run capacitor of 10uF 450V but there is no start capacitor.
The motor was controlled by a circuit board that had small push buttons on a control panel that would allow the motor to reverse if there was a jam.
What I would like help with please is, how do I make the motor start up every time and how do I make it start up running in the correct direct every time and can I make the motor reverse if required.
The motor when powered up will sit idle until I move the fan in either direction and then run fine.

The motor has a label on it that reads
Type : DJ10045ECa-3930
230V/50Hz 10uF/450V
CCW CLASS B E312864
Prod date : 2010-11-02
HONEST - 130B - 1 660000003930
CHANGZHOU HONEST ECECTRIC CO. , LTD

Any help will be greatly appreciated
Paul

Show the motor along with any connections, wiring block etc and the original controller.
The more you show, the better the chances.

Thanks Bluejets

Diagram on the motor plate shows main winding (M) across Gray and White wires which you have in the "terminal" connections photo and is correct,

BUT the capacitor has to connect between the Gray and (A) auxiliary winding which will be the black cable, NOT across the main as you have it now.

Reversing of the motor is achieved by reversing either the main or the aux winding in relation to eachother.

However, to do this you need access to the (M) and (A) junction which I cannot see in any of the photos.

Only possibility I can see is if they originally reversed the motor by making the (M) main and (A) auxiliary , transpose the capacitor, making one direction (M) to be the run winding and in reverse making the other direction (A) to be the run winding.

I'll sketch up a quick drawing of what I mean to make it simpler to understand.

Thank you, looking at the diagram, now you pointed it out, I can see capacitor across 'A' windings and the black wire...
I connected as you said and it now starts up every time.
I just need to work on the reversing of the motor.
Thank you
Paul

Thanks, I will play with it later, I will need to understand it a little better so I can switch it from FW to RV.

Cheers
Paul

You have to measure each winding to ensure if they read the same or not, if there is a difference you would need to do as per Bluejets if they are the same reading, you can just take the live wire from gray to black.
And switching can be done with a simple SPDT SW.
There appears to be a thermal protection fitted.

Cheers Minder, I managed to do it but I had to use a DPDT switch.
It now works a treat.
Thank you Bluejets and Minder for your help with this, very much appreciated.
