Electric motor cooling

Suppose you had an electric motor that used air cooling(fan). Now if I wanted this fan to automatically turn on and cool the motor and detect the temperature of the motor how would I do that???

Temperature sensor on the motor.
Sensor drives perhaps a relayto drive the cooling motor.
Sensor also drives a readout.

There are fluid coupled fans (as used on some car radiators) that use temperature as the coupling effect to the fan itself such that the hotter the device runs the more 'coupled' the fan is (to the drive shaft) and therefore more air flowing over the motor. No electronics, no power supply.

There are also thermostatically controlled fans (simple thermo-switch on the motor body) that require power but essentially do the same job.

The motor should not heat up at all if you are using the correct power, and its properly terminated...
Heat is a big problem with motors. Fans are usually added as the recourse of not being able to get the right motor for the application...
Study your motors, and you will find the right motor for the application. rule of thumb.. don't build half wave circuits with half vast ideas.

Rubbish...motors heat up whatever.
Try getting out and use a fraction of a HP trying to push crap uphill and see if you don't get a sweat-up.
