Do you still need thermal paste when using a silicone elastomer?

I'm not sure if I'm asking in quite the right forum, but I recently ordered this thermal pad: https://www.digikey.com/products/en?keywords=1168-1209-nd. My question is, do I still need to use thermal paste?

If it helps, I plan on using it behind the MOSFETs of a car amplifier.

They are actually better.than using Mica isolators.

It may help,but you need flat and clean surfaces and tighten the screws well.

First thing to check is whether the Mosfets themselves are isolated in case there are "metallic back".
If they are plastic ,they are obviously isolated.
For isolated devices use only thermal paste for best cooling.

It is not necessary but will not hurt. I find it useful though to use a smear to stick the pad to my heat sink whilst assembling bits. It saves having to chase parts all over.
