Batteries vs. Power Supplies

So I bought some LED strip lights. Website said only and 9v-12v power supply would work. So I found a few 115VAC -> 12V power supplies. ( i will have to look up the amperage and edit this in a minute) Only to find out that the LED Strips were meant to be powered by a 9v or 12v (Car) Battery. Does anyone see a problem with plugging them in via my power supplies?

as long as it is 12V dc you shouldn't see any issues. Only issue would be if the voltage was unregulated and varied a lot, then the possible current would be greater then the LED could handle and they would be junk.

Wouldn't the rectifier/limiter circuit take care of most of that when changing from AC to DC?

it doesnt provide any regulation. thats what voltage regulators are for eg. 7805, 7812 etc
have a read of the thread on powering LED's it may help you a bit
