Back to my old Sony SLV-R1000

I have a Sony SLV-R1000 and reason this old VCR I would like to repair this but before I do any surgery on it. Since I put away because it shows white spots during tape play on our TV. I haven't open the top cover yet but instead I did used tape cleaner but still the same problem. So I will be doing electronics repair that I have mostly electronics equipments. I'm still learning every day that is part of my hobby. I've done a lot of reading of electronics. So I hope to hear many of you await for feed back advice.

Those machines were notorious for needing the power supplies re-capped. Also, make sure the capstan motor flywheel isn't rubbing on the stator coils. These motors develop bad bearings. Hope this helps.

It really sounds like your tape heads are dirty.
Some cleaning tapes work ok and some don't.
If you're taking the cover off, use a Q-Tip-type cotton stick with some isopropyl
alcohol to clean the heads.
IMPORTANT:
You have small slits cut in the head that the actual reading sensor sticks out of that reads the tape
with. YOU DO NOT WANT TO DAMAGE THOSE SMALL SLITS sticking out.
BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL if you run those cotton Q-Tips over the slits sticking
out of their small horizontal slots.
Sometimes the cotton gets stuck on the slits sticking out and can gum-up the works.
I'd seriously consider careful cleaning of your heads (even though you ran a cleaning
tape through the machine), before messing with the electronics.

And also:
Run your alcohol dipped cleaning tips over the rollers and metal posts that contact
the tape. You've probably got little specs of dirt and etc... on those, and they'll
just get onto your tape, and get run back onto the heads you just cleaned.

Sony VCR white spots

I agree with all the replies so far. This problem is often caused by the head drum static discharge brush...static charges can build up while the drum is rotating so during replay white spots and dashes are noticed as the drum disharges through the tape path. Take a look at the head drums rotating shaft for a small flat contact. Usually a thin flat metal discharge arm with carbon tip which contacts the rotaing shaft... either on top or the underside where the motor is situated. Simply clean the contacting surfaces of the shaft and discharge brush to cure the problem. Regards Nepow
