2pin 12v switch

I have a 2pin switch, i have a +12v and ground wire going to an LED unit, i want to be able to switch the supply off, can I simply add the switch inline on the +12v wire. So basically, cut the +12v wire and connect one end of each cut to the switch pins? I'm assuming the switch doesnt require ground as all it needs to do is switch on and off

yes thats correct

just make sure the switch is rated for what ever current the LED unit draws
the switch should have its rating on the side of it ( most do)
