End goal: Get foglights to work only whenheadlights are on all while not splicing into the original wiring.
The computers are very sensetive these days in vehicles. In my particular case a GMC Sierra the computer will detect the loss of voltage if fog lighs have been tapped into the headlight circuit. This in turn will turn on an alert in the computer and then turn on the check engine light.
My thoughts are to use some type of clamp on meter of sorts that would detect the current and as a result close a relay that would allow the fog lights to turn on. These would be tied directly to the 12V battery and would bypass the vehicle computer all together.
Any thought on the meritsof this idea? any help would be greatly appreciated.
