Zone faulted question

Z

Zig

I have a Napco Gemini system in my home. All the windows have Sentrol
5150 glass break/shock sensor on them. My alarm has twice gone off for
no reason and it say zone 5 is open/ caused the alarm to ring. one of
the rooms in zone 5 is the bathroom. might it not be a good idea to
have this sensor on those windows since steam may get into it. Might
that be the reason for the alarm going off. Zone 5 consist of two
other rooms beside the bathroom and I have checked all the windows and
can't seem to find a proble.

THe problem is not a constant open zone but from time to time it shows
open or goes off at night while sleeping which is quite a shock.

Thanks for your help

I've tried shock sensors and won't use them. I just rapped on the frame and
the thing tripped. It seems the perfect solution for a window but in real
life, as you've seen, they're too prone to falsing. I'd suggest you disable
or bypass the shock sensor, that's the one that's causing you grief.

If you slammed the toilet set down. Is that like a glass break sound?

Sentrol makes an excellent glass trap (window bug). Replace your present
ones with this:

http://www.geindustrial.com/cwc/pro...amid=55&catid=1134&id=5150_Gla_Sen&lang=en_US

You can purchse these products on line at any of the dealers listed here:

or you can contact one of your local dealers (listed in the yellow pages)...

Good luck!!

Frank,

I have the 5150 on my windows in the bathroom already. I wasn't sure
if they are ok to be used in a humid area such as the bathroom.

They're fine for humid areas if you follow this procedure... If you look at
the "business end" of the sensor (the side that they put the double sided
tape on), you'll be able to discern a seam where they've pressed the part
they've mounted the piezo to into the plastic housing. Put some silicon on
the end of your finger and run it carefully around the seam and aim a "dab"
at the place where the wire comes out, then proceed to attach the sensor to
the window in the normal manner. You won't ever have a problem with
moisture if you follow this procedure. If you're really concerned and don't
mind the way it looks, you can always run a bead of silicon around the
perimeter of the sensor right against the glass after you've affixed it with
the double sided tape.
