I don't hate you any more than I might hate a gnat. You are merely annoying,
and apparently do not have anything useful to add to the discussion,
especially when you have a childish "tantrum" and type gibberish when anyone

emulates that of a classic troll, apparently in an attempt to solicit
attention rather than engage in rational discussion.

If you have a legitimate need for information about a specific application
or concept, people will be glad to help. But so far you have only spouted

expertise in concepts such as ohm's law and fundamental characteristics of
LEDs. Your argument about saving money by eliminating a $0.001 resistor is
ridiculous to the extreme.

So, if you persist in your immature behavior, I will certainly not feed your
trolling, and you will need to satisfy your craving for attention elsewhere.

My needs are simple. If that humiliated the pride of electronic
engineering here, I was surprised!

In fact, they were more like defending the "holy land" here, which was
not my interest.

I am going back to resistors and LEDs for my toys....

In my four Years working at repairing industrial electronics and instrument
calibration; I did have a case where I found a shorted resistor. I
unsoldered it after measuring it a short and after removing it from the
circuit board it still measured a short. Very weird!

that some resistive material burns away, that forces the surrounding
material to carry more load which makes it hotter, and then the rest
burns away.

There may be some resistive material out there that leads to the resistor
failing short -- but it'd have to be a weird construction out of a weird

Nearly all resistors are spirals of material (metal, carbon or composites)
around a ceramic rod - so any breakover will be between adjacent turns in
the spriral. This will probably ruin the part but it will not short end to
end.

A series string of resistors breaks the voltage applied to EACH resistor
down by the number of resistors, making much higher voltages tolerable.

I have seen high voltage, high resistance resistors flash over end to end in
the lab, I even cleaned them with pure alcohol and a cotton cloth, then let
them dry for a few hours. The reason I cleaned them was that that finger
prints - which are slightly conductive could cause a change in resistance on
some of the resistors. I have seen this in the old Beckman DMM meters, they
have a 22 Mohm resistor in them to give them the high input impeadance and
if it gets soiled or touched, it could change the readings, so I cleaned
them with a cotton swap and alcohol.
