Using a cheap digital hydrometer as a relay control for humidifier

I am looking to control the humidity inside my reptile tanks. The levels need to stay between 45-55 percent. During the summer months this is easy to regulate with a spray or two from a bottle every day but during the winter the heat is on/off constantly and drives the levels way down. I have a cheap digital hydrometer from walmart and was wondering if anyone could recommend a way to use this as a relay to control a humidifier. The problem with the automated humidifiers at the store is the sensor is inside of the unit. Obviously it would not be practical or safe to place the unit itself in the tank. Reptile misters are decently priced but are on a timer instead of a humidistat. Any insight into solving this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time!

I am sure someone can help but you will need to provide the specification of the hydrometer and the misting valve.

It should all be low voltage for safety.
