Hello,
A dutch company called "Essent" wants to install a new device in my house
which contains an RFID chip so they wrote to me in a letter.
No further details are provided accept a phone number which costs money to
call, which ofcourse I am not gonna do.
Now I have a troubled mind:
1. Previously "fags" would come at my house... listen to me how I was taking
a shit... and then they insisted that they had to enter my house to take a
look at the energy meter to record it so they can bill me.
Now they propose to simply broadcast my energy meter information onto the
"street" on "command" by an energy device that will inject energy into the
RFID chip so I presume...
Injecting energy into my house doesn't really sound like something wise to
do... but so far I this not my main concern... for now I will assume the
energy level is low and doesn't propose a risk to me or my equipment.
Otherwise they will ofcourse be sued by many many many people I hope
So the real question is, is it better or not and is it really required
nowadays ? Sneak peak on my thoughs: no it is not required there is a
different solution.
But first let's look at the current system:
1. Fags come into my house. I have problems with that.... I don't want no
fags in my house... my house is a holy place... fags in my house disgrace
it.
2. Criminals could pretend to be from the energy company and robb me or even
kill me for a playstation which I dont have lol.
So at first glance it seems spy chip is better... so they can just drive by
and record it.
However most people nowadays have internet.
Also is the information encrypted or not ?
If the information is encrypted which it should... then they don't need to
implement a spy chip in my house.
I can simply send the information to them via an e-mail... or even call
them.
Actually I already did this in the passed.
Ofcourse they would first need to call me or e-mail me to request the
information.
So quite frankly I am starting to wonder what the rfid fuss is all about...
Maybe it's a secret attempt at injecting a spy device into my house which
does more than just record energy levels.
Therefore I will be vary wary of them... ask hard questions... and I the
answers don't please me I will quick them out of my house and switch energy
provider easily.
Let this be warning to Essent that they might loose me as a customer...
which could mean they could looooossse other customers as well that don't
trust it no more.
I actually did something like that in the past... they ask me energy info
from the device.. and I give them energy info from the device.
So option 3 is:
3. Energy device encrypts information. Energy device display information. I
sent encrypted information to them... at their request.
So no need for spy chip.
Bye,
Skybuck.
