transformer vs ferrite

can i use a ferrite coil instead of a transformer to achieve a similar result as a transformer? and if yes what are pro and cons?

It depends on the frequencies involved and the inductance levels needed. Ferrite has a much lower mu value than iron and is thus mainly used for higher frequencies.

You can use laminate transformer if you need less than 10khertz but if you need more than 10 use ferrite toroid transformer (it costs more than a usual transformer but has less electromagnetic field)
