Through hole Diode Identification

Hey there,

Newer to electronics but competent enough to take direction, so bear with me please.

How can I identify this diode? Schematics are non existent and there are no markings on the diode itself.

I've removed a corroded one elsewhere in the circuit and need to replace it.

Are all small diodes the same?

Thank you for your time.

Not all diodes are the same. Do you have a picture of the surroundings of the corroded one?

It might be a 1N4148 but there's no certenty.

It looks a little fatter than a 1N4148. I use zener diodes that look like this. What is this circuit? Make, model, function?

Perhaps this 1s2473? Your camera angle may be making it look fatter?

Thanks for all the replies guys.

The circuit is transport controls for a Tascam 688 cassette recorder.

It for sure is shorter and stouter than other diodes.

Here's a picture of the diodes in context. I had to remove some other components (that I eventually will need help identifying, like capacitors that look like resistors...) along with the diodes.

Let me know if theres anything else I can do to help identify them.

Thanks so much!

Thanks Bertus

How would using a slightly different diode effect the circuit? Is there a margin in the specs of diodes to where similar diodes will accomplish the same job?

Also let me clarify, I am dumb.

That being said, is there a way to measure the diode with a multimeter similar to measuring a resistor?

Hello,

It looks like the diodes are part of a switch matrix.
I do not think that they are defective, as very low currents are normaly used in those switch matrixes.

The diodes themselves probably weren't defective but the corrosion had eaten through the legs a few of them and two tactile buttons.
