Test bench power supply

Found this power supply article on nuts and volts from march 2007 and I would like to build one:

I'm having a bit of an issue to find some parts like the transformers, I was looking to find exactly the same parts.

The first one on the list I have a hard time to find one with the exact same specs
"T1 120V primary, dual 44V center tap secondaries @ 1.5A"

If you do find such a transformer, it will probably cost you more than buying a complete bench power supply.

Actually I looked, and dual supplies do not come that cheap.

I think your best bet would be to get a toroid core of the appropriate size and wind your own transformer.

I found a few Chinese power supplies on eBay rating 30v for $33 free shipping ---from China :) or they are really bad or they are really cheap

When I was a teenager I used to build my own transformers, good times, everything electronic was expensive so we had to improvise.
