check out a company [may not exist any longer] called Vivimetrics.
Their whole product line addressed EXACTLY the type function you're
describing. From memory, their product line was to help attending
physicians to monitor: simple ekg, pulse rate, blood pressure,
temperature, three degrees of motion [want to see how active the
patient is], breathing rate, lung volume, and optional oximeter
measurment. The portable device on the patient communicated wireless
to a home monitoring station that could then communicate via phone
line to dump info at physicians' office. Also, if the portable
monitoring went out of range, it switched to GSM cell towers to keep
in touch, so 24/7 monitoring/linkage was possible. And of course
'alarm' conditions coud be set to check if any biomeasurement went out
of some set range.

How is a bracelet going to measure blood pressure?

Every time I go to my Dr's office, they measure my BP with a bracelet
device which stores the info. It does the same thing as other
measurement devices (pump air and etc) but it surrounds the wrist rather
than the upper arm. They walk away and come back later to look at the
results.

Thought you'd like to know my experience concerning this.

Recording health statisics is more than BP, pulse, and temp. I've
been recording my BP, pulse, weight, blood oxygenation, drug intake,
hrs sleep, results of various medical tests, etc for about 12 years.
It would be nice to have all this data collected automatically, but at
this time, I don't see how it can be done with a single device. At
best, it would be an array of devices, each talking to a central data
dumpster via wireless.

A fulltime BP logger would be a great product, but I can't think of a practical
way to do it.

With all due respect, please use your imagination.

I cannot wear a watch because any watchband constricts my blood flow,
causing my hand to go numb.
So,it is possible to have a bracelet that (slightly) presses on one
of the arteries to get pulse (easy part) and with a MEMS pressure gauge,
BP might be derivable.

Does anybody make a watchband BP monitor? The wrist BP gadgets that I
see are still big pressure cuffs.

Regarding blood pressure, the latest healthy recommended numbers
are 120/80. (this week)
But how was this found? My doc says in a quiet room, setting
comfortably for at least 5 minutes. So what does measuring you BP at
all hours in all stages of excitement, fits of rage and running from
bandits have to do with a healthy BP of 120/80?
Just curious.
On my third medicine adjustment/change trying to get a change in my
numbers.
I had a record before the doc put me on meds, it made no diffence in
my ave systolic, 134.8 to 134.3. Doc doubled my meds, then my systolic
ave increased*. New med, I'll do some graphs soon. (had a few lower
measurements)
If this doesn't work, I might try exercise! :-/

*Don't think I changed my mental/physical situation to account for an
increase.

You could probably get an actual health improvement by walking daily for
30 minutes or so, rather than sit for the same time and analyse the
results of such a device.

I have to visit that site and need research it.

What do you think the function you mentioned merge with smart device such as ipad, iphone? measuring value and transfer the data to smart device daily.. And some apps make the graph or valuable form using a transfered data.

120/80 is the normal standard as you referred.
I think the device check BP all the time and separate the BP level at excitement condition and quiet condition. I think engineering skill and advancedtechnology is really needed.

principal character carries such a device, that advises him that he's

about to have a heart attack, and suggests that he slow down. In the

end, he does have a heart attack the "CORA" device broadcasts a loud

All wrong. Temperature in the extremeties is very different from core

temperature. Same with many other external points of connection. If

you must measure temperature externally, do it around the head, where

the bulk of the body heat is radiated. There are LCD strip

thermometers that change color with temperature that are applied to

the forehead.



Heartbeat frequency, also known as pulse rate, is a good thing to

know. However, what would be much more interesting is a proper ECG

recording, where the heart waveforms can be analyzed in real time and

anomalies detected, recorded, and alerts issued. You can't tell much

from just the pulse rate. At least here, you can use external

sensors, but you won't like the arrangement:

Blood pressure requires a cuff. Whether you're using the

auscultatoric or oscillometric methods, a cuff is required. Note that

you can do the measurement at the ankle, where a cuff might be less

obtrusive. There are various schemes to measure blood pressure by

proxy, but I'm too lazy to find them. BP also varies wildly depending

on body position, exercise, condition, diet, attitude, stress, etc.

The only way to get meaningful readings is to measure it under exactly

the same conditions every time. That's not easy.

Badly researched, badly conceived, lack of medical input, overly

ambitious, impractical, probably too expensive for a consumer product.
