Teac PL-D1000 dvd player fault.

Hi all,

I have a Teac PD-D1000 DVD (home theatre) player here which has the
following fault:

When a disc is inserted, the drive keeps spinning up and slowing down
slightly. The player eventually displays no disc.

Any ideas before I go any further with it?

You could try cleaning the lense, but usually this means the optical pickup
has failed and it's usually cheaper to buy a new player.
