stepper motor control

i have a machine in the lab where i work with 37 bi-polar stepper motors controlled by a program in labview. each motor has a corresponding breadboard circuit with 4 inputs (from a daq module) into an L293D driver IC to boost the current and 4 outputs wiring to each motor. to imitate 5V ttl for the input, we have a 5V power source and three 12V power sources to run the 37 circuitboards.

due to financial and space constraints with this amount of electronics, my supervisor asked me to look into finding a way to run the motors through only one circuitboard. (it's fine if the motors can only rotate one at a time) i don't have much knowledge in signal processing, so if any of you guys have any ideas or advice, i'd be much obliged.
