Sony KV28CL10B CRT tv

Hi Everyone

Just need some advice. My TV has been taking longer and longer to come on over the last few months. Now when i turn it on the sound comes on straight away but i get no picture for between 5-10 mins. Also the standby light flashes a fault code of 6. I found and downloaded the service manual from here http://elektrotanya.com/?q=showresult . The flash code is ''IKR Error at power on'' I don't know what IKR stands for. I also went into the service menu on the tv to see the stored hours of use. It shows 22,000 hours. I read somewhere that CRT's are only good for about 20,000 hours. Is it worth me going any further with this tv's fault or is it highly likely that the fault is probably the CRT and i should buy a new tv?

Thanks

Mark

hi Mark

After 22,000 hours yes I would say its time to shout yourself a nice new flatscreen :)

I cant help with the error code either, tho I would expect a list of error codes to be in the service manual.
generally on a CRT TV/monitor the slow coming on of the pic is an indication that the electron emission from the guns in the tube are getting lower in level. There are ways to improve that but they are not a permanent fix and you would find that probably within a year you are back to the same situation.

Flat screen LCD TV's are dirt cheap these days, shout yourself an early birthday pressie ;)
