Sawtooth oscillator

That is not a saw wave generator. It is an integrator. With a DC level for an input it produces an inverted ramp. Positive input equals negative-going ramp, and vice-versa. Ignoring the control input for a moment, if you put it in series with a comparator in a loop, so the ramp output drives the comparator and the comparator output drives the ramp, you have the triangle and square wave parts of your instrument. Add some external logic to drive the control input and you have the saw wave part. Search for triangle wave oscillator and sawtooth wave oscillator for examples.
