Samsung SV-DVD1E weird problem when initial reading of DVDs and CDs

Hello!

I have a very weird problem in my Samsung SV-DVD1E (a DVD-VHS combo).
When I insert any DVD or CD, the laser unit begins to search, but it doesn't
reach
the inner part of media and keeps going a bit back and forth, repeating
movement.

If I move the laser unit with my finger, then CD or DVD is properly
recognized
and plays perfectly.

I cleaned and oiled the tracks of the sled but the problem remains. :-(

Any suggestion?

Try cleaning the laser lens. If this does not work, then the laser may be
going a bit weak, and is now on the edge. Sometimes, doing a complete
re-alignment of the laser focus, bias, and tracking may help. You will
require the service manual, calibration disk, and the instrument set-up to
do this type of service.

Try cleaning the lens on the laser unit. If this does not work, the
laser is most likely a bit weak. Sometimes resetting up the tacking,
focus, and servo setups may let it work for a while longer until it
becomes too weak to function. To do the setups you will require the
calibration disks, service manual, most likely some training, and the
necessary scope, and DVM.
