Samsung S5 charger connector defect

My Samsung S5 is not charging, the connector gradually become unreliable and lost contact with the charging adapter. Please see image for illustration.

I've isolated the problem to the phone charging connector, as seen in the photo. It's not the cable, I tried several chargers.

The history of the flaw: The charger become less reliable over time, until it finally stopped working entirely.

* How do I replace this charging connector on my own?
* Alternatively, can I open up the casing and charge the phone using direct cabling (just like jumper cables for a car), just enough to clean my phone before handing it in for repair?

Why not get the connector replaced by an authorised Samsung Dealer?

I wanted to do that but they want me to hand in the phone and send it off for repairs and I have too much private data on it to do that.

The Micro USB is difficult to tamper with. It will be possible to connect 2 wires for external power feed, but it,s quite tricky.

I would suggest that you back up your phone using Samsung Kies (a free program for Samsung Phones). for complete phone backup. If Data link on USB is also NOT working, use Bluetooth as the link for accessing the phone.

Else, a better option is to use something like SyncDroid

to backup your phone and then give it for repair.

Thanks for the advice, however the phone is completely out of juice so I can't start it at all. Hence, I need to do the direct connection with two wires.

Do you maybe a have a link that describes how to do this? I have googled alread and looked around in varios forums.

Charge the battery using another S5 from a friend or request the dealer to charge your battery so that you can do a backup. Don't know about your place, but here, in India, its possible to buy a Universal Cell Phone Charger for about $4. Looks like...

eBay and Amazon seem to have it.
