Roland XP-50 Workstation (Keyboard/Synthesizer)

A friend was playing around with my keyboard who didn't know anything about it and when I turned it back on the LED Display flashed USER MEMORY damaged. After that it showed jibberish. ie. (*&%^%X) I did a factory reset and it fixed the problem temporarily after I turned the write protect OFF. Once I turn the keyboard off and turn it back on again the same problem re-appears so now everytime I want to use the keyboard I have to do a factory reset. This is not supposed to happen.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
Thanks!!!

Sounds like the battery is worn out or doesn't sit correctly in the holder. Without a functioning battery, data may be lost when the synt is powered off.
Have a look here.

Opps still learning how to post :(
On power-up it does say "low battery". Haven't used it for a year. Forgot how.... lol... I have the manual and am slowly re-reading it.
I've never replaced a battery. I looked at your reference on how to change a battery but when I went to the photos they were no longer there. Can you get a battery at a local electronic store or Walmart? I've never used the disc port either. Is it the old fashioned floppy disc they used to use in older computers? Just pop it in?...not sure where to find those anymore...yikes! I'm scared to try it if I don't have the right disc or battery. Can you please verify what I'll need and do you have any photos or u-tube videos for reference? THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP!

Sorry, neither do I know this synth nor do I have ne at hand. You'll have to go by the manual or find help from someone who has experience with this synth.
You have the manual at hand, somewhere in there it should be shown how to change the battery and which type to use for replacement. It is very likely a standard battery that you can get in many places.
