Resistor Question

I bought an assortment of resistors. They are different values, in individual packets- all nicely organized and labelled.

Most say 10K or 660 R. etc

But one of them says 6K8 what does that mean 68K? 68R? Neither?

It's a way to identify them without errors.
Sometimes seen in schematic diagrams and my preferred way of displaying the value.
In this instance 6K8 means 6,800 ohm.

Also along the same lines, say 68 ohm(68R) 4.7ohm (4R7) and say a 0.1 ohm (0R1)

for the suffix letters , check out wiki (K,M etc.) and the differences between say M and m.....consider it homework

Except that K is degrees absolute and k is a thousand. These often get mixed up and m is used for a million when dealing with money.

The system you are enquiring about was introduced to eliminate errors as it was far to easy for the decimal point to be missed and the wrong value used instead. The "R" suffix indicates that the value is below 1k and it replaces the omega symbol.
