Replace APL1085 low dropout 3 terminal on pc motherboard

The middle terminal isn't connected to anything The tail I don't know if it's soldered on or not It's wide, not like a connector should be so I'm not sure I already tried removing it with a soldering iron but wasn't able to Before I try again I thought I'd ask for tips

The middle pin is connected to the tab:

Lift pins 1 and 3 after heating the pads and the solder is liquid. Or simply cut the pins near the housing of the chip.
Then heat the tab and pry the chip lose.

You may need to adjust your soldering iron to a higher temperature for the tab.
If not, try applying fresh solder first and then try desoldering again.
