Repair - Breville Sandwich Toaster

Hello All.

Before I chuck it, I thought I would at least have a go at repairing it.

I have a late 70's sandwich toaster that needs a replacement cable that connects the upper plate to the lower cooking plate. It was working fine until there was a spark, a major glow from the cable, then nothing! You can see from the spring/coil protector where the break was.

Needs a bl*ody good clean but will only do this if it can be mended.

From the images, hopefully you can see the cable I need.

Please can anyone tell me what cable is needed?

Would be great to repair/recycle rather than going in the ground.

Any heat resistant power cord with a wire diameter matching the one in your toaster should be suitable.
I can't see that to clearly but it looks like the cable was put inside an additional high temperature sleeve before this was threaded through the spring.
It also looks like Faston terminals were used to make the electrical connections. You'll need these and a suitable crimping tool, too. Maybe an electrician can help you with this part as the crimping tool is likely to be more expensive than a new toaster

I have various terminals so that is no problem.

My problem is finding the suitable cable. I wouldn't know where to start. So would you be able to show a suitable cable from eBay/Amazon etc. (as you have superbly done with the terminl and sleeve) as an example for me to do further research and pricing etc?

it was good advice to stop you or a family member being electrocuted from a faulty device
