I am totally going to try and build this(without looking at the guide of course).

Trust me on this. Looking at the guide is not cheating.

It is a non-trivial device. More so when you consider that a good design will be balanced without the need for counterweights.

Yeah, but it doesn't feel right... I just figured out how to program a micro-controller and its like a challenge. It's never fun following instructions.

Of course, I'm not so proud that I won't look at the guide when I'm stuck. But until then, I'll just experiment until i get the timing/calculations right.
