Progressive Scanning Does it make noticeable difference -picture quality?

I am looking to purchase a dvd player and just wondered if Progressive
Scanning makes a noticeable difference in terms of picture quality. Is it
something the average Joe would notice. Is it something you would only
notice if you had two units side by side?

If your TV doesn't do progressive scanning, it doesn't make any
difference.

You will only see the difference if your set has progressive scan.

Has anyone looked at two tvs side by side (with and without) and can say
they saw a noticeble difference.
