Now, what are you doing etching your own boards if time is so precious?
I would think that a retired big-time Silicon Valley innovator such as yourself
could afford to send your gerbers out to a fast-turn board house. Or are you
requiring platinum clad saphire substrates now? <-- obligatory grin

I'm not retired... probably at my busiest time ever. Filthy rich, but
still resent blowing money on a one-off while I firm up a (G-job)
design ;-)

I bought a Stika vinyl cutter for my wife's projects. Thought I'd try
it as a PCB resist method, just for fun-sies ;-)

You might try one of the etchers here
(http://www.web-tronics.com/printed-circuit-board-supplies.html) for
starters, Jim. I bought one a couple years ago and it still works very
well. Yeah, I could have put it all together from pieces, but like you, I
didn't have the time to spare at the time....

I just use a plastic food container inside a larger one half filled with hot
water. Wearing rubber gloves I agitate the etchant continuously. It takes
about five minutes with fresh FeCl3.

You misunderstand his kind. He wants to imagine it, firm up the design
in his simulator, reach over, and have it present the board to him,
complete, effortlessly, the way all of those frat boys order up stuff
from Reality.
